A special thanks to friend and professional photographer Michiel de Lange for his collaboration as a guest judge. Michiel de Lange was born in the late '60's in South Africa, but have been living and working as an architect in a number of countries for the past ten years. He is especially drawn to the real, rustic lives of people earning their living in streets around the world, and has traveled to more than 30 countries to experience these street cultures. The photographer resisted the "cliche" to depict the models naked, yet the image still successfully oozes sensuality and intimacy in a way that makes this a worthy runner-up. It is this quality that makes this the winning shot. Most of the other finalist images present more of an objective voyeuristic "viewer" or "spectator" perspective. Ben's image manages to draw the viewer in on a personal level by making them almost feel the sensuality and intimacy exuded by the model themselves.
Monochrome Awards Winners’ Gallery
PhotoShoot Awards is a series of online photography competitions that captures emotion in images based on themes which are thought to provoke and which convey contemporary perceptions of current world issues. The competitions focus on several different themes showcasing categories of photographs which rarely receive the attention or interest they deserve. The nude portraits selected by PhotoShoot Awards are neither obscene, nor pornographic, nor violent.
